La ringrazio per le notizie che ci ha inviato nelle sue ultime lettere e mi scuso per il ritardo con cui le scrivo.

Siamo molto dispiaciuti per i disastri (alluvioni) che hanno colpito la vostra popolazione, causando gravi danni che si aggiungono ad una situazione di povertà diffusa. Se Dio, per le sue imperscrutabili vie e nella sua infinita sapienza, permette questo, non dobbiamo scoraggiarci. Anche se non ci è dato di capire, in ogni dolore provato in questa vita terrena possiamo unirci al calvario di Cristo. Confidiamo dunque sempre in Lui, che ci ha preceduti nella sofferenza, che conosce e comprende le difficoltà umane e ci incoraggia a proseguire sulla strada del bene.

We were very sorry to read about the floodings that struck your people and caused such serious damage adding more strain to a previously existing widespread situation of poverty and need. If God in his inscrutable ways and unlimited patience, allows this, we mustn't get discouraged. Even if we cannot understand now, in all the sufferings we experience in this earthly life, we can join them to Jesus' Calvary. Therefore let's always trust Him who anticipated us in our sufferings, who knows and understands our human difficulties, and encourages us to go on in the path of good deeds.

Qui non ci sono state novità di particolare rilievo da quando, nella mia ultima lettera, le ho annunciato la costituzione dell'Unità pastorale "Mandrio-Mandriolo-San Martino piccolo". Il nuovo parroco, don Wojciech, i suoi collaboratori e gli altri operatori parrocchiali stanno cercando di attuare gradualmente l'unione delle tre ex parrocchie autonome. Non è semplice per i fedeli (e neppure per i sacerdoti) vincere la tendenza a guardare il campanile di provenienza.

Here, nothing really important has occurred since my last letter, when I announced you the formation of an only joined pastoral Union formed by the three former parishes of "Mandrio, Mandriolo (our original one), and little San Martino". The new vicar, don Wojciech, together with his collaborators and all other parish consultants are trying to gradually implement this joint Union of the three formerly autonomous parishes. It is not an easy task for the faithful believers (neither it is for the previous still existing vicars) to win their inclination to keep a perspective tending to consider mainly their exclusive interests and matters.

Tra le cose già realizzate:- la condivisione del notiziario parrocchiale;
- il catechismo di bambini e ragazzi che, per la prima volta, viene condotto come una attività comune, sicché tutti i bambini e ragazzi del terrirorio dell'unità pastorale frequentano le medesime classi ed i medesimi educatori. Sono i primi concreti passi.

As of now, these are a couple of the things already fulfilled:- sharing one single joined news bulletin;
- catechism for children and youth (for the first time held as a joined shared activity), so that all children and youngsters, residing in the area of this new large pastoral unity, attend the same chatechism classes and share the same instructors. These are the first actual steps.

I parrocchiani hanno potuto vedere con i loro occhi le fotografie che mostrano l'avanzamento dei lavori di costruzione della chiesa parrocchiale di Razole. Nonostante le difficoltà economiche di questi tempi, è stato fatto un ultimo sforzo per completare la raccolta della somma a suo tempo promessa. Pertanto il 12 ottobre vi sono stati inviati 4.800 euro attraverso il solito social service center. Voglia confermare, appena possibile, di averli ricevuti.

The faithful could see with their own eyes the photos showing the advancement of the building works for the parish Church of Razole. Despite the economic difficulties we are experiencing these days, a last effort was made to complete the collection of the sum we promised in due time. Therefore last October 12th we sent you 4,800 euros by the usual social service center. PLEASE LET US HAVE A PROMPT CONFIRMATION OF THE CORRECT RECEPIT OF SUCH AMOUNT, once it reaches you.

Quest'ultima somma, insieme con le altre già inviate, raggiunge l'importo complessivo di 43.766,89 euro, che copre il costo da lei preventivato (43.750 euro) per l'intera costruzione.

This last sum, together with the previously sent ones, amounts the full sum of 43,766.89 euro (fortythree thousand seven hundred sixty six euros, eightynine cents) covering the full cost originally estimated (43,750 euro) by yourselves for the total building works.

Entro breve termine inizierò a contattare coloro che hanno adottato i vostri bimbi. Sarebbe perfetto se, insieme con la richiesta per rinnovare l'offerta annuale, potessi consegnare al benefattore un saluto scrittogli personalmente dal/i bimbo/bimbi adottato. Veda ciò che può fare.

Shortly, I will get in touch with our faithful parishioners who adopted your children. It would be perfect if, together with your request to renew our yearly offer, you would enable me to deliver to each benefactor a greeting/message written personally by the adopted child/children. Could you kindly provide for this to be done?
